Grounding with Balance

Since lockdown, essential oils have been part of my selfcare practice daily. I started with a blend of rosemary, orange, cinnamon, clove and eucalyptus to protect and boost my immune system. Being a scientifically minded person, I particularly appreciated reading a study about why this combination of oils is antiviral and antibacterial. Here’s that study if you want to take a peek. Also being an anxious person, I usually have trouble sleeping so with the fear and uncertainty that came from the pandemic, I need more help to relax my mind and body before bed. I started diffusing clary sage before bed to snap my mind and mood into sleepy time mode. Smell is actually the fastest way to change your mood because odors take a direct route to the limbic system through your nose. So as soon as I smell clary sage, my body knows it is safe to relax.

There are a few others oils I use daily to combat adrenal fatigue, shift my mood and take care of my skin, but the one that I want to spend more time talking about is doTERRA’s grounding blend called Balance.

Balance is a blend of Spruce Leaf, Ho Wood Leaf, Frankincense Resin, Blue Tansy Flower, Blue Chamomile Flower, and Osmanthus Flower essential oils in a base of Fractionated Coconut Oil.

It smells warm, woody and fresh, and is light blue in color due to the Blue Tansy.

This proprietary essential oil blend is primarily a combination of tree oils and roots. Trees are the perfect example of grounded living. Trees live in the present moment. They are not in a hurry. They are stable. Their roots grow deep enough to support strong and stable growth.

Balance strengthens a connection with the lower body and with the earth. These connections are especially important when the upper faculties have been overused due to excessive thinking, speaking, or activity.

I use Balance every day before I get to work. I also diffuse it while working if I need grounding. It is also my go-to before teaching and presenting. Basically anytime before I speak to students, clients and colleagues.

  • Evokes feelings of tranquility and balance.

  • Begin your day by putting doTERRA Balance on the bottom of your feet to lessen stress throughout the day.

  • Use before bed for a restful night’s sleep.

  • Use before bed while thinking positive thoughts to promote peaceful dreams.

  • Use while meditating or practicing yoga.

  • Add to Epsom salts for a comforting bath.

  • Apply doTERRA Balance to your wrists or neck to help ease anxious feelings.

  • Diffuse in your car during road trips to create a calm environment.
