Reiki
Reiki, also known as chi, prana, and ki, is the Universal life force. It the omniscient field of energy that exists everywhere at any time. It is the web of energy vibrations that connect us all. And if you're questioning that such an energy exists, think about a time when you walked in on an uneasy conversation and felt the awkwardness in the air. That's energy and it can be used intentionally as a powerful tool to energize and heal living beings. It's becoming more and more popular and even the mainstream is beginning to pick it up. It's like yoga was 10 years ago or so. And in the same way that many people first turned to yoga to heal physical ailments like shoulder and back pain (this was me), people often first hear about reiki as a way to heal their bodies. But just like with yoga, there is more to its power than just healing the exterior.
More and more people are turning to reiki to clear and balance their chakras. These chakras are energetic centers throughout your body. They are metaphysical focal points – not physical parts of your body. While there are 7 or 8 chakras in the popular, western understanding of chakras, there are many more in traditional tantra philosophy – where the concept of chakras originate. The point here, is that chakras are conceptual and by categorizing them according to location (root at the base of the spine, sacral at the pelvis, etc), organ (stomach is governed by the solar plexus, heart by the heart chakra, etc) and emotion (forgiveness at the throat chakra, love at the heart chakra) is a powerful way to visualize and send energy to whatever issues you may be going through.
And of course you don’t have to go through chakra work if you want to try reiki. You can get it for any problem that you’re facing whether that’s physical, emotional, healing from past trauma, or for wellness. You don’t have to even have an ailment at all. Reiki is a great source for con wellness, just like eating well to stay well, not to heal, As it is said often, energy healing is powered by intention. And having a clear way to focus that intention is how reiki energy magic happens.
As everyone experiences reiki differently, there is no such thing as a “typical” session. Reiki is channeled during the session to you through non-invasive, light touch or via distant healing. Through these methods a practitioner is able to identify energetic imbalances within your chakras, balance, and clear any blockages. Reiki energy is channeled for your best and highest good, so the outcome may not be exactly what you expect. Additionally, you can experience some (unlikely) light detox symptoms such as headaches, nausea, deep emotional experiences, and more. Everybody experiences it differently. Others have highly beautiful experiences with reiki feeling an extra sense of peace, calm, connection and clarity. Some even experience flashes of insight, ideas, physical tingling, and/or extra energy during or after the session. It is best to set a personal intention before the session that you receive the best results possible. If any emotions or symptoms do come up, know that they are signs of release and allow them to pass through without fear, frustration, or judgment. The release is a good thing, so ease into it and allow it to flow through.
