How Does EFT Help with Stress Relief?
EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) is a simple yet powerful practice that combines cognitive therapy with acupressure to release stress from the body and mind. Think of it like acupuncture for your emotions—without the needles.
There are many different ways to practice EFT. I started tapping in 2020 using the Tapping Solution app and following teachers like Gala Darling and Gabby Bernstein.
Even though I practiced yoga regularly—I completed a 200-hour YTT and taught a weekly class—and had trained in Vipassana meditation, stress still had a grip on me. No matter how much I stretched or meditated in stillness, my nervous system stayed stuck in overdrive.
What truly changed everything for me was working 1:1 with a certified Clinical EFT practitioner. (Clinical EFT is a series of 48 different techniques that help to free the body of old emotions. It is a comprehensive strategy that involves more than just tapping.
In just 30 minutes, we uncovered a memory from when I was around four years old. I had needed help but didn’t know how to ask, and that moment of frustration and helplessness had been stored in my body ever since. Every time I felt unsupported as an adult, my stress response kicked in without me even realizing why.
Once I tapped on that memory from a place of calm, my body finally let go. My shoulders softened. My breath deepened. I felt relief in a way I had never experienced before.
How Clinical EFT Helps with Stress Relief
🔹 Regulates the nervous system – Stress can keep your body in fight-or-flight mode. Tapping on specific acupressure points signals your body to shift into relaxation, helping you feel calmer in minutes.
🔹 Releases stored tension – Stress often gets trapped in the body as tight shoulders, clenched jaws, or digestive issues. EFT helps release that built-up tension so you can feel lighter and more at ease.
🔹 Calms racing thoughts – When stress takes over, it’s easy to spiral into overthinking. EFT slows down the mental chatter and helps bring you back to the present moment.
🔹 Shifts negative patterns – Many of us carry stress from past experiences without realizing it. Clinical EFT helps identify and clear old stress responses so they don’t keep running in the background.
🔹 Supports deep relaxation – Unlike some stress relief techniques that require quieting your mind (which can feel impossible when you’re overwhelmed), EFT works with your emotions, making it easier to find relief.
