I’d love to be able to share plant-medicine in-person but that’s not in the cards right now. So what I welcome for these chakra yoga classes is for you to bring any plant-medicine you like to class, like tea, essential oils, topicals, smoke/vapeables or even plant-matter itself. Before, during, and after the session, we’ll enjoy whatever we brought together by ingesting, smelling, smoking it and sitting with the aroma and effects for a few moments… letting the mind-body become familiar with the scent/taste and creating a container for the session focusing on whatever chakra we’re on.
For the Root chakra, the center of survival, tribe, safety, family, there are many plant-medicines that help with activation. A few of the more common ones are …
Basil, frankincense, rosemary, cinnamon, nutmeg, Onguard essential oil blend, cannabis strains like Jack Herer, OG Kush, Blue Dream, etc, and anything else with alpha-pinene, a terpene that smells, you guessed it, piney.
This terpene lowers anxiety, is anti-inflammatory, opens up airways, increases alertness, and creates a pleasant euphoric state.
I will be diffusing essential oils and most likely vaping or smoking a nice piney strain.
If there is another scent that reminds you of home and being safe, you are absolutely welcome to use that instead. I’m also happy to give you other recommendations if you’d. You can reach me via noemi@yogawithsparks.com, on Instagram and Facebook.
This is a donation-based virtual event. The suggested donation is $10. Please feel free to donate what you can. Your support is lovingly welcome and appreciated.
The Playlist for this class is available via Spotify here.
Class is always different and props are always optional, but I like to spice in props anytime we’re sitting and for restorative poses. Props that are good to have handy are:
two blocks or pillows or thick books (think Harry Potter #4 and up)
strap or belt, bathrobe, or something similar
two blankets for savasana ( one to prop up your shoulders and head, one to cover yourself)
